^The Holidays Are Over! *boohoo*^

As 'chu er' draws to a close, I am already missing the festivities of Christmas and Chinese New Year. With this economic gloom hoo-ha and GSS so far away, it's gonna be tough getting past the next few months.

This post is pretty belated so I figured a summary update is alot easier. First-up, CHRISTMAS!!

Always my favourite season, the spirit of Christmas never fails to cheer me up. Somehow, people are slightly nicer, happier and friendly come December. Whether it be for religous reasons or much needed rest from a hectic year, people look forward to 25th Dec. (I think it's mainly the presents)

My family celebrated with a eve-dinner feast at Godma's, Mass in the morn then a cosy lunch @ Chai Chee. Pressis this year included a cool lomo camera for my brother, a new digital cam for my parents, a huge luggage for David and accessories+apparel for the sisters ... (pics will come when Blogger stops screwing up)

CNY was pretty much food, food, food and more food. Seriously overate. Sadly, I was close to being in the red this year. Not from gambling but giving out angbaos to my elders. Thank goodness I managed to earn a profit still...a good $24. *haha* ok la, better than losing money. (brainwashing myself) *i am a happy giver* *i am a happy giver*

What's special this year is it's the OX year! To be exact, the Earth Ox is in reign this year. I looked up on this Chinese Zodiac business and my 'shi fu' - Wikipedia - has the following to share:

Basic rules: The 60-year cycle consists of two separate cycles interacting with each other - the Five Elements cycle (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal & Water) & the Chinese Zodiac cycle (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep/goat, monkey, rooster, dog & boar). Years that end in an even number are yang, those that end with an odd number are yin. The cycle always starts with the Yang Wood Rat and ends with the Yin Water Boar.

Each element gives a person distinct traits (partial list):
Wood - Generous, Warm, Persuasive, Co-operative, Explorer, Idealistic, Ethical, Enthusiastic.
Fire -Dynamic, Humanitarian, Enterprising, Leadership Skills, Strong, Loves a good laugh
Earth - Wise, Patient, Prudent, Stable, Hard-working, Ambitious, Stubborn, Disciplined, Logical
Metal - Determined, Self-reliant, Sophisticated, Caring, Respectful.
Water - Secretive, Charming, Compassionate, Creative, Intellectual, Betrayal

Each animal has a different personality and different characteristics and is believed to be the main factor in each person's life that gives them their traits, success and happiness in their lifetime. Traits of an Ox: Dependable, calm, methodical, patient, hardworking, ambitious, conventional, steady, modest, logical, resolute, tenacious. Can be stubborn, narrow-minded, materialistic, rigid, demanding.

To go even more indepth, an animal is also assigned to your month & time of birth. =.=" Too much for me to blog about. already I am not sure if I have kept any of my readers this far. *heh* BUT! It is rather interesting so I do recommend a read here. Maybe you can learn something about yourself or your love one? Might be useful for the upcoming 14th Feb date.

For my peers, 1985 was the Yin Wood Ox (which prompted my brother to give me a good knock on me head) and this year is the Yin Earth Ox year. The rest, go read yourself.
